Recipes!!

Hello everyone!! I am very sorry for the delay in posts! I have been very busy lately, and blogger has been giving me a hard time and has not let me post.

As I mentioned before, a friend of mine, Kelsey Hughey, will soon be posting on here as well, but as she is right now working with her family on some projects on their home, she probably won't be able to for some time.

I am trying to think of ways to organize and schedule certain things that we can post. I will talk to Kelsey about it, and let you all know them.
For now though, I going to post a delicious recipe I used today, and I hope you enjoy it as well!!

Hello Again!

Hello! I deeply apologize for the delay in posts! I have been very busy, but I have also been trying to think about what other types of things I will post on this blog. A friend of mine, Kelsey Hughey, will be posting here soon as well, and we have talked about quite a few things we will post. One thing that we will definitely post is recipes. Kelsey and I both love to cook and bake, so we will be sure to post delicious ones! :)

For now though, I'm going to post a little of a story I was working on. Enjoy!

The Mystery of the Pearl Locket…

Drip, Drop. Drip, Drop.” The rain tumbled down in wet blankets on Lincoln St. and totally drenched Marcy’s clothes. Quite out of breath and patience, she hurried to dry up before Mrs. Baker arrived at the ‘Baker and Co. Sewing Studio’. “Oh! I’ll never be ready in time!” she cried. Desperately she shook off her coat outside and tried to straighten up her tangled, brown hair. “And just when I had curled it too.” She muttered irritably. “Oh well. I really need to get finished with Ms. Gilbert’s wedding gown anyway.”
And with that she rushed into the next room of the cramped studio, scooped up her supplies, and set to work. Within minutes she was holding up the lacy gown and tenderly touching the pearls which she had just sewn on. “Well, sulky Mrs. Baker won’t have anything to say about this beautiful dress!” she thought to herself.
Just then, her best friend Rebecca (Becky) Lock, rushed inside and laughingly shook off the rain. “Hey Ms. Seamstress!” she teased. “Hello Becky.” Marcy replied, shaking her head as she laughed. Rebecca and Marcy had been friends since they were three years old, and even then dreamed and planned to be seamstresses, and to sew lovely gowns. Well, they had gotten their dream! “So,” Becky said, interrupting Marcy’s thoughts. “What have you been working on?” As she spoke, she reached into the pocket of her coat and pulled out a pack of skittles. “Oh. I was just finishing up Ms. Gilberts wedding gown. What-cha think?” Standing up, Marcy held the dress up towards the light so that it would shine. “Wow!” Becky exclaimed, “Its beautiful! I wonder what its like to wear something as lovely as that…” she pondered a minute, and then Marcy replied, slyly “Don’t you wish you were wearing it next month? You know it is a real wedding gown…” Becky looked as if she was going to throw the bundle of fabric that sat on the table next to her at Marcy, but instead just laughed. “Ha-ha! You never will forget that time will you?” That time, that Becky had mentioned was when they had dressed up as brides, and she, meaning Becky, had wished that she had a real wedding dress instead of a simple red night gown and a string of shells as pearls.’

“No. I guess it’s just your terrible fate!” this time Marcy laughed uncontrollably as she remembered yet another of their funny memories together.
‘They had been playing out in Becky’s tree house, and were talking about what they would be when they grew up. Becky had said that she would fall desperately in love with a gardener for the king and her lover would be killed in a duel with a great knight, and then she would be forced to work in the castle as a kitchen maid. “It will be my terrible fate!” she had exclaimed “Oh wouldn’t it be wonderful to die of a
Broken heart?”’

“Okay, enough with the funny memories.” Becky said, pretending to be embarrassed. “I’m sorry.” Marcy exclaimed, gasping for breath. “Let’s forget I said anything and finish getting ready before ‘Miss Sour-Faced Baker’ gets here.” Marcy started hanging up the dress as Becky straightened up the folds. Turning around, she saw a tall lady with a bent nose marching past the window towards the door to the studio. “Well, she’s here.” She said, as she moved to the front room. As Marcy finished adjusting the folds, she heard them talking in the front room. “Hello Ms. Lock.” She heard. “Good morning Mrs. Baker.” Becky answered back, slowly. Then she heard silence…
“How is the dress coming along Ms. Rickman? I do hope that your about finished.” Mrs. Baker snapped behind Marcy so loudly she about jumped. “Ms. Gilbert will be here in an hour to try it on and she has asked for you to sew this on to the inside of the gown.” As she spoke Mrs. Baker handed Marcy a small package. “I want it finished soon. If you need anything, you know where I’ll be.” And with that, Mrs. Baker marched off into the next room. “The old grouch!” Becky muttered. “Will she never leave you alone?” Marcy slowly put the package down on a table and started cutting fabric for the inside of the gown. “Well, she didn’t even look at the dress.” She said more to herself then to Becky. “It’s alright. I think it’s beautiful. And doesn’t that mean something?” Becky asked, quietly moving towards Marcy and hugging her. “Yes, it means a lot. Maybe you’ll even let me sew you one.” Marcy looked at Becky and smiled. “See, that’s my Marcy!” Becky said, laughing quietly. “Come on. I’ll help you finish.” And with that, they both set to work finishing the gown.

“Oh no! Where did I put that package?” cried Marcy as she quickly looked through the piles of sewing supplies and fabric on the table and stools. “Don’t you remember where you put it?” Rebecca asked, not thinking much about it. “I was sure I put it….” Marcy stopped. “Put it where?” Becky asked, this time looking more worried. “She handed it to me, and I…..” Marcy said, more to herself than Rebecca. “Marcy! What did you do with it?” and then they both heard footsteps coming towards the back room of the studio…
“Oh No! She’s coming!” Marcy quickly whispered. And then…..!

Paper Fashions!

I love to make cards!! I so enjoy stamping, printing, scrap booking, you name it! Well, a friend of mine introduced me to a Klutz book called Paper Fashions, and I love it!
I use the outfits I make on cards, notebook covers, whatever. If you enjoy designing, (like me) this book is really neat.

Writing Letters.......

Writing letters of any kind, such as friendship, love, sorrow, excitement or so on, has been around for a very long time. Such letters are often read and reread by those who receive them, and much of the time kept for a long while. Writing is not so easily done as, say e-mailing, but when you find the time, can be a very enjoyable and interesting pass time. I know that when I receive a letter from a friend or family, it always seems to brighten my day. Then, when I find myself with nothing to do, I have the chance to write back and hopefully do the same for someone else. I know that its a lot easier to e-mail, and I often choose that over writing. But again, writing can be so much more fun to do!! Also, you don't always have to write a long letter, but a simple and pretty card with some nice, cheerful words from you can mean a lot too. Another thing you can do to make it more special, is making the card yourself. Some ideas of things that you could use are stamps, stencils, pictures, leaves, and lots of love! When doing this, don't be afraid to be creative! Use the talent that our Lord gave you! :)

Anyway, this post is mainly to encourage you to reach out to someone in this unique way, and share with them how the Lord has worked in and through you, and also to show someone how much you care!

Thank you for taking the time to read this!
In Christ Alone,
